The Army released a statement this afternoon confirming the incident. The statement read that “Suspected BAT (Border Action Team) action bid foiled in Tangdhar. Today early morning, suspicious activity was observed of 3-4 intruders by alert troops, close to forward post along LoC,” the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said in a tweet.
It said timely action by alert troops averted the infiltration bid. “Area search and surveillance (is) under progress,” it added.
The Army had recently said that over 250 militants are waiting on launch pads all along the line of control (LOC) from Uri to Gurez to infiltrate across the border.
Lt Gen B S Raju, GOC of Srinagar based Chinar corps has confirmed the presence of militants on LOC launchpads and said that this year only 30 militants have been able to infiltrate across the LOC.
Last year over 130 Paksitani militants had managed to cross over to Indian side.
