Srinagar: Police in Bandipora along with security forces have arrested one terrorist of proscribed terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and recovered live grenades and ammunition from his possession. Based on a specific input regarding movement of terrorists towards Hajin town for subversive activities, a joint Naka was established in Hakbara area of Hajin town by Bandipora police, 13 Rajasthan Rifles and 45 Bn Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) where one terrorist namely Rafiq Ahmad rather @ haji r/o Chandergeir was apprehended while trying to hurl grenade on the Naka party.

Incriminating material along with live grenades and ammunition (2 live grenades and 19 live rounds of AK-47) were recovered from the possession of the said person.

He joined proscribed terror outfit LeT recently and was tasked to carry out attacks in and around Hajin locality by way of grenade hurling on police and security forces. In this connection FIR under relevant sections of law stands registered in police station Hajin and investigation has been initiated.

In another incident, a soldier and a woman were injured on Thursday when militants fired at an army ambulance in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, an army official told news agency IANS.

Defence Ministry spokesman, Colonel Rajesh Kalia said: "An ambulance with QRT (Quick Response Team) was fired upon by terrorists from near a mosque at Laddoo morh in Lethpora area of Awantipora at 6 pm."

"One soldier was injured. He was evacuated to 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar. One civilian lady sustained injuries in the cross fire. She is stable. Area has been surrounded," Kalia said.

The incidents come days after a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Wasim Bari, his father and brother were killed by some LeT terrorists in North Kashmir's Bandipore district on Wednesday night.

Police said today all the eight personal security guards (PSOs) deployed for the protection of former BJP district president, Sheikh Wasim Bari have been arrested for questioning.

The young BJP leader and his father and brother were shot and critically injured by terrorists who fired at them at their shop in Muslimabad locality of Bandipora town. Reports also said the security guards were present in the house when the terrorists attacked the BJP leader inside his shop located close to his house.
