In a tragic incident on Sunday, seven individuals, including four members of a family lost their lives in three separate road accidents in Udhampur, Jammu, and Reasi districts of Jammu and Kashmir. A couple and their two daughters were killed and another one was injured after their car collided with a truck in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, the officials said, as reported by PTI.

Further officials told PTI that the family from Jammu was on its way to Kashmir when the incident took place, and they met with an accident at Salore near Tikri along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway shortly after midnight. The badly crushed vehicle posed challenges for rescuers in retrieving the bodies.

According to the PTI, officials confirmed on-the-spot deaths of Nitin Dogra (37), his wife Rittu (32), and daughters Khushi (17) and Vani (11) whereas another daughter, Brinda (15), suffered critical injuries when a rashly driven truck hit the car which then collided with another truck.

Officials confirmed that police have registered a case and begun a search for the negligent driver who left the site of the collision.

According to reports, two people, Aijaz Ahmad (32) and Mohd Asif (26) were killed after their car drove off the road and into a gorge in the snow-covered Bathoie area of the Reasi district. The bodies of the two deceased were collected and given to their families.

Another incident occurred at around five in the morning when a truck driver who was not recognised fell off a bridge near Manwal in the Jhajjar Kotli area of Jammu while carrying cattle, stated the officials. According to them, more than a dozen cows died in the collision as well. The truck was traveling from Jandrah to Manwal when it collapsed off the bridge close to Saunoo hamlet.

On the incident, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh wrote in his tweet, "Just now spoke to DC Udhampur, Saloni Rai. Shocked to learn about a private car accident on the Highway leading to on the spot death of 4 members of the family while a child with injuries has survived. The injured child has been shifted to Government Medical College Hospital."

"It was an unfortunate head-on collusion leading to the tragedy. My sincere condolences! All possible medical aid being provided to the surviving youngster…let’s all pray for the child," he added.
