Terrorist Attack in Jammu Kashmir: Two policemen have been martyred in a militant attack in Jammu & Kashmir's Bandipora district on Friday. According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, militants opened fire on a police team at the Gulshan Chowk in the evening.


Two policemen, identified as SgCT Mohd Sultan and Ct Fayaz Ahmad, were injured in the terror attack. Both of them were taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead by doctors.


Kashmir Zone Police stated that the area has been cordoned off and a search for the accused militants is underway.






Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also condemned the terror attack. "I condemn the terrorist attack on Police at Bandipur area of North Kashmir. In this attack, Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel Mohammad Sultan and Fayaz Ahmed lost their lives. May their souls rest in peace bless and may God give strength to their families," he tweeted. 


Meanwhile, LG of Jammu & Kashmir too condemned the attack and vowed to avenge this barbaric action.




The recent militant attack in the Valley comes days after three terrorists were neutralised in an encounter with Police and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Wednesday. 


As per inputs, Police and security forces opened fire to gun down the terrorists as they refused to surrender.


"During the search operation, as the presence of terrorists got ascertained, they were given repeated opportunities to surrender; however, they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated leading to an encounter," a Police official had told news agency IANS.


The killed militants were identified as Amir Hussain Ganie, resident of Check Cholan Shopian, Rayees Ahmed Mir, resident of Kapran Shopian and Haseeb Ahmad Dar, resident of Khudwani Kulgam.


The Police also informed that incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one AK-74 rifle and two pistols were also recovered from their possession.
