Jammu and Kashmir: The Hizbul Mujahideen on Sunday released the picture of an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer's brother who has reportedly joined the militant outfit.

Shamsul Haq Mengnoo, who was pursuing a bachelor's course in Unani medicine, is seen in this picture wielding an AK-47 rifle in his hand.

As per IANS reports, Mengnoo's brother Inamul Haq is a 2012 batch IPS officer and is posted in the North-East.

It is reported that the militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen has released pictures of over 20 youth who have joined the militant organisation since May 21 this year. Police says that this is another way how Hizbul Mujahideen wants to glamourise militancy.

Hizbul has given its new recruit the code name of 'Burhan Sani', or Burhan the second and it is said that he went missing a month after seven militants were killed in an encounter at his ancestral house in Shopian.

Yesterday, the local police and central paramilitary forces on Sunday enforced a security lockdown in major parts of Srinagar to hold back rallies and protests. It was the second death anniversary of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani. Security forces killed Wani and two of his associates in Kokernag area of Anantnag district on July 8, 2016.

In June, Hizbul Mujahideen claimed that Irfan Ahmed Dar, Special Police Officer of J&K Police, has joined its outfit. Dar had gone missing after reportedly leaving from Pampore police station with an AK-47 rifle.

The Operational Spokesman of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen Burhan-u-Din had said “SPO Irfan Ahmad Dar a resident of Nehama Kakapora of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district who fled with the rifle has joined Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.”
