A Border Security Force jawan and four civilians sustained injuries in an unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers in Jammu and Kashmir's Arnia sector. The injured jawan is receiving medical aid at a local hospital. Houses were damaged in Arnia of the RS Pura sector, and locals recovered mortal shells in the border village of Bulleh Chak after the incident.






"We have found three mortar shells so far after overnight shelling from the Pakistan side. No person has been injured in the incident," a local said, as quoted by the news agency ANI. 






"One woman was injured in the mortar shell firing last night, she has been hospitalised. Pakistan doesn't let us live. Six mortar shells were fired in this area," said another resident of Arnia town in Jammu, Deepak Chaudhary.






Speaking on the incident, Sarpanch at border village Bulleh Chak in Sai Kalan, Arnia of RS Pura sector in Jammu, Dev Raj Chowdhary said, "A lot of firing was done by Pakistan overnight. No person has been injured in this but a house building has been damaged. After 6 years, there was firing from the Pakistan side last night. Our security forces retaliated to the firing".






Pakistan on Thursday violated the ceasefire as it targeted Border Security Force (BSF) troops in unprovoked firing along the International Border in the RS Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said. According to the BSF, the firing took place around 8 pm and it is still on. According to news agency PTI, some BSF jawans were injured in the firing, but there was no official confirmation.


"At approximately 2115 hrs, Pak Rangers started mortar firing targeting Border outposts and civilian areas. Some of shells landed in Arnia town, resulting in minor injuries to one civilian ie Smt. Rajni Devi w/o Balbir Singh, Aia, Jammu," BSF said in a statement. "Around 2240 hrs, Pak Rangers used heavy machine gun fire from Pak and targeted our Posts, which was again retaliated by own troops in a befitting manner, the statement further read.


The BSF also said, "At about 270108 hrs, Pak Rangers again fired at and targeted our BOPs, leading to an exchange of fire and adequately retaliated by own troops. Firing continued until 270245 hours."
