Srinagar: At least three civilians have been injured in the grenade attack on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) ballation at Barbar Shah in Jammu & Kashmir's Srinagar.


According to Srinagar Police, militants lobbed a grenade at a joint party of the CRPF and J&K Police at Barbar Shah falling under Kralkhud police station around 6 pm.

The Police official also informed news agency PTI that grenade exploded on the roadside, resulting in injuries to three civilians.


The area has been cordoned off by security forces and a manhunt launched for the assailants. 


The incident took place a day after a militant was killed while another surrendered during an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. 


According to Police, a cordon-and-search operation was launced by security forces in the Hanjipora area of Shopian district following information about presence of militants there.

The search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire on the security forces personnel, drawing retaliation. During the operation, another militant surrendered before the forces. 


He identified the militant as Sahil Ramzan Dar, a resident of Shopian.
