Two terrorists along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara were gunned down by the security forces on Tuesday, said the police. The terrorists were neutralised in the Machhal area of Kupwara, they added as per a PTI report. The Kashmir Zone Police announced the development on Twitter but did not clarify if the ultras were infiltrators or locals. "Two (02) terrorists have been neutralised in a joint operation of Army and Kupwara Police in Dobanar Machhal area (LoC) of Kupwara district. Search still continues," it tweeted.


On June 1, two terrrorist associates of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit were arrested by the Jammua and Kashmir police near Frestihar Kreeri village of Baramulla district. 






In a press statement, police spokesperson said that the accused were apprehended at a checkpoint established at Warpora area of Kreeri Baramulla. The Baramulla district police said they also recovered two Chinese pistols, two pistol magazines and fifteen live pistol rounds from their possession, reported news agency PTI.

A case under UA(P) Act and Arms Act in PS Kreeri was also been registered against the terrorists. A police spokesperson also confirmed that further investigation was underway. 


Last month, the Indian Army foiled an attempt at infiltration in the Uri sector. The Pakistan Army provided cover and drone support to the unspecified number of terrorists that tried to infiltrate. A search operation into the matter was launched to find recoveries, if any.


In an exchange of fire between the terrorists and the Tactical Processing System, one of the Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO) received minor bullet injuries on his hand and calf. He was evacuated, sources told ABP News.
