Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar on Thursday met his Japanese counterpart Yoshimasa Hayashi in New Delhi and held the 15 India-Japan Strategic Dialogue. The strategic dialogue will chart the way for a special strategic and global partnership between the two nations, said Jaishankar after the meeting. "Warm welcome to FM Yoshimasa Hayashi of Japan on this New Delhi evening. The 15th India-Japan Strategic Dialogue will take stock and chart the way for our Special Strategic and Global Partnership," he tweeted ahead of the meeting.
Following the meeting which took place at Hyderabad House in the national capital, the foreign affairs ministry issued a statement saying the meeting provided an opportunity to review the progress made in the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
Jaishankar and Hayashi discussed a wide range of issues from investment to technology and defence and culture.

Achieving the target Japanese Yen 5 trillion investment in India in the 2022-27 period was emphasised by both ministers, the ministry stated.
They also discussed collaboration in potential areas of critical and emerging technologies including semiconductors; resilient supply chains; and digital public infrastructure, among others.
Both the nations expressed their satisfaction with the defence ties including regular exercises and staff talks between all three services and discussed ways to take it further, the statement read.
The two ministers exchanged their views on issues of regional and global interests like free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region, Quad, and G20 and G7 presidencies.

Observing 2023 as the Year of India-Japan Tourism Exchanges on the theme of ‘Connecting Himalayas with Mount Fuji’, Jaishankar and Hayashi talked about people-to-people exchanges and ways to promote the movement of skilled human resources from India to Japan.
"The India-Japan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue reaffirmed the commitment of both sides to strengthen their Special Strategic and Global Partnership. The meeting further deepened bilateral cooperation and set the stage for enhanced collaboration on regional and global issues," the ministry said.
