New Delhi: Terming the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as a rerun of what happened to former Jharkhand chief minister and JMM leader, Hemant Soren, his wife Kalpana Soren on Saturday said she has made common cause with the former’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, and will join her fight against the arrest.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Kalpana said, “What happened in Delhi (Kejriwal’s arrest in the excise policy case) was a rerun of the events that went down in Jharkhand two months back. Just like my husband Hemant Soren, Arvind Kejriwal now finds himself in ED custody (in the liquor policy case).”

“I met Sunita Kejriwal-ji and resolved to fight against this (her husband’s arrest) together. We are in this together. I am also meeting Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi today and will brief her on the prevailing situation in Jharkhand. I also join the I.N.D.I.A partners at the rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan tomorrow."

JMM leader Hemant Soren was arrested by the ED in February over his alleged connection with a land scam case. Last week, a special PMLA court extended his judicial custody till April 4.

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest followed almost a similar pattern after he skipped ED summons repeatedly since last November.

Meanwhile, after Kalpana Soren met Sunita Kejriwal, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said AAP has invited both Kalpana and Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren to join the mega Opposition rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan against Kejriwal’s arrest.

“Hemant Soren was a big leader of Opposition parties and he was running government in a non-BJP state. Everyone saw how the Central government had put him in jail, similarly, Arvind Kejriwal has also been put in jail. Kalpana Soren, wife of Hemant Soren, today came to meet Sunita Kejriwal. We have invited both Kalapana Soren and Champai Soren to the I.N.D.I.A bloc rally to be held on March 31, both will attend the meeting. I don't have any such information on whether Sunita Kejriwal will be joining the rally,” Bharadwaj told ANI.
