New Delhi: The Rohini Court has sent two prime accused in the Jahangirpuri clash to one-day police custody, reported news agency ANI. The two prime accused have been identified as Ansar and Aslam.
The Delhi police presented 14 of the accused in Rohini court on Sunday. 12 of those presented have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the court, Advocate Vikas Verma told ANI.
The Delhi police alleged in the court that the accused found out about the Shobha Yatra of April 15 and built up the conspiracy.
“We have to go through the CCTV footage and identify others involved in this case,” the police said.
Meanwhile, Usha Rangnani, DCP North-West, told ANI that 20 persons have been arrested in the Jahangirpuri violence case so far. She also added that two of them were juveniles.
“20 accused arrested and 2 juveniles in conflict with the law have also been apprehended in connection with Jahangirpuri violence case. 3 firearms and 5 swords have been recovered from the possession of the accused persons. Further investigation underway,” she said.
The FIR has been registered under the sections 147, 148, 149, 186, 353, 332, 323, 427, 436, 307, 120B IPC and 27 Arms Act dated April 16.
The incident took place on Saturday as a mob pelted stones at a procession on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti which led to clashes between two groups. The clashes left eight policemen and one other person injured on Saturday evening.
After the incident, high security has been deployed in the area.
“After Delhi’s sensitive incident, a flag march is being conducted by police with the goal to create an atmosphere of faith and security for the public. I appeal to the public to maintain peace and not pay heed to rumours,” Love Kumar, Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) told ANI
