A monetary reward has been placed on the head of a local militant responsible for the murder of a Kashmiri pandit in Shopian by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Police have named the militant as Mohd Latief Lone.
Vijay Kumar, the additional director general of police in Kashmir, proposed a reward on Thursday for anyone with information on the militant responsible for the October death of a Kashmiri Pandit in South Kashmir's Shopian area.
Taking to Twitter, Kashmir Zone Police stated: "During investigation of case FIR No 211/2022 of PS Shopian pertaining to killing of Kashmiri Pandit Shri Puran Krishan Bhat of Chowdharygund by terrorists on 15th October, one Mohd Latief Lone S/O Nisar Ah of Check Kachidoora was found to be involved in this heinous terror crime."
"The said killer is missing from his home since 12/11/2022. Any person giving any information about accused Mohd Latief Lone will be suitably rewarded by Police," ADGP Kashmir said.
Recent Attacks In Jammu & Kashmir
In August, a Kashmiri Pandit was shot dead and his brother injured after militants opened fire at them in the Shopian. The deceased was identified as Sunil Kumar and his injured brother as Pintu Kumar.
While India celebrated its 75th Independence Day, terrorists threw a grenade at a house in Budgam, injuring a civilian identified as Karan Kumar Singh who was shifted to a Srinagar hospital.
Militants have stepped up attacks in the Kashmir valley targeting minorities and security personnel.
A policeman was killed in Nowhatta and a migrant labourer in Bandipora in August. Two grenade attacks took place in Budgam and Srinagar districts on August 15.
