Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday conducted searches at several locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the terror funding case. An NIA official associated with the investigation said that the agency, along with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), is conducting searches at multiple locations in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
While the officials are silent on sharing the information about the case right now, sources aware of the development said that the Anti-Terrorism Investigation Agency is conducting raids across 40 locations including Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Anantnag, Budgam, Rajouri, Doda, and Shopian. The agency is also searching the premises belonging to senior members of the banned terror outfit Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).
News agency ANI has also confirmed the development saying that the residence of a member of Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), Gul Mohammad War is being raided.
Jamaat-e-Islami is an Islamic movement founded in 1941 in British India by the Islamic theologian and socio-political philosopher, Abul Ala Maududi.
A day earlier, the NIA had conducted searches at seven places in connection with the DJ Halli and KG Halli police station attacks in Bengaluru. The agency had conducted searches at seven places in Bengaluru in the premises of seven absconding accused, who are chargesheeted (named in the chargesheet) in the case.
During the search, various incriminating documents and electronic devices were seized from the premises of the absconding accused. The two cases were originally registered at DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations respectively, which pertain to an incident on August 11, 2020.
