A gunfight between security forces and terrorists claimed the lives of four Army personnel in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Monday evening. Among them was braveheart Captain Brijesh Thapa, a second generation Army officer who had joined the forces five years ago.
Remembering his son, Nilima Thapa, battling grief and filled with pride at the same time, said that she was proud her son sacrificed his life for the nation.
She said that the family received news about his death at 11 pm and added: "Unfortunately, we lost our son. He won't return to us," ANI reported.
"...He was very decent. He always wanted to join the Indian Army...I feel very proud that he sacrificed his life for the nation...The government will take strict action," she said, while speaking to news agency ANI.
'Will Be Missing Him For The Rest Of Our Lives', Says Captain Thapa's Father
The Captain's father Colonel Bhuwanesh Thapa (retd) also remembered his son and expressed the pride he felt since his son did something for the country's security, added "we will miss him for the rest of our lives".
He said it was unbelievable for him to accept that his son was no more. Remembering his son, he said that Captain Thapa always wanted to be in the Indian Army and used to wear his uniform and roam around.
"Even after completing his engineering, he still wanted to go to the Army," he added.
"...My son always wanted to be in the Indian Army...He cleared all the army tests in his first attempt...I feel proud that he has given his life for the nation...We will be missing him for the rest of our lives," he said.
He also said that although he felt proud, the "only sad part is we won't be able to meet him again; otherwise, I am happy he sacrificed his life for the country."
'Family's Loss Can Never Be Coped With'
Captain Thapa's uncle Yogesh Thapa also remembers his nephew. He said it was easy to say that he sacrificed his life but the "loss of the family can never be coped with."
He also urged the government to take action against the militants as several soldiers were been killed lately.
Yogesh Thapa said that the family was waiting for the Captain's body and are expecting it to be handed over by Wedneday.
"... He was killed in action last night in Doda. We are waiting for his body to arrive, after which we will go to Darjeeling. His parents live in Darjeeling... He joined the service 5 years ago... He was born and brought up in Army areas. His father is a Colonel in the army... We are expecting the body to be handed over by tomorrow... It is easy to say he sacrificed his life for the country, but the loss we have suffered as a family can never be coped with... We don't know when the government will take action against militants. Our soldiers are being killed every day..." he said.
Besides Captain Thapa, Naik D Rajesh and sepoys Bijendra and Ajay were also killed in the encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda last evening.
