New Delhi: As many as 118 militants of Doda district have made their base in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir, and out of them, ten are most active who try to involve the youth in Doda and Kashmir province into militancy, police said on Wednesday.


"118 militants of Doda are based in Pakistan and PoK at the moment, of whom 10 are most active. They try to involve the youth here in militancy. They are trying to spread militancy once again in Doda and the Jammu province. We have made the profile of 10 such militants who are most active. We have declared two individual terrorists and two as proclaimed offenders," news agency ANI quoted SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom as saying.


 “Two militants have been declared individual terrorists and two have been declared proclaimed offenders and property of one seized. We are preparing dossier against others and action will be taken against them,” the SSP said.


Notably, the security forces have stepped up counterterrorism operation in the Valley in the wake of recent spike in incidents of target killings.


Qayoom further said that the home ministry has declared one Abukh Habib as an 'Individual terrorist' and another militant who has been declared as ‘individual terrorist’ is Mohd Irshad, who has connection to the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).


“Abukh Habib is one of the most active militants in the region. He had a hand in militancy incidents in the Jammu province, which included planning and executing IED and grenade blasts. He is attempting to revive militancy in the Doda district. The MHA has declared him as an 'Individual terrorist',” the senior police officer added.


According to the SSP, Nazeer, a terrorist linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, has been trying to recruit the youth for terror activities. "We also recently seized the property of another militant named Abdur Rashid, aka Jahangir," police said.
