The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday opposed a bail petition filed by one of the six accused arrested in the ISIS module bust case. The accused has moved the court seeking temporary bail to be with his wife during child birth.


In 2023, the NIA arrested six accused for allegedly promoting terror activities in India at the behest of terror outfit ISIS.


Zubair Shaikh, one of the six accused in the ISIS module bust case has sought interim bail from a court to be with his wife at the time of their child's birth, the PTI reported.

Shaikh has moved the court praying for an interim bail saying that his wife is in an advanced stage of pregnancy, and will require to undergo the cesarean delivery on February 4, the report said.


The petition filed by Shaikh sought temporary bail so that he could be with her. However, the has NIA opposed his plea, saying the grounds raised were not cogent and valid, the report said.


The court is likely to hear the case and pass an order on the plea on Friday.

In June 2023, the NIA filed the case against Tabish Siddiqui and others, after receiving information by the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding a conspiracy hatched by them to disturb the unity, integrity, security and sovereignty of the country, and to wage a war against the Government of India by promoting terrorist activities of ISIS.
