Lucknow: In joint raids by Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in coordination with police of five states, three terror suspects have been arrested on Thursday morning in Lucknow.


As per details hiven by UP ATS Chief Asim Arun to a news agency, Joint raids were conducted in several states including Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh by ATS. This was done in coordination with police of five states.

Arun said that three persons have been arrested in Mumbai, Jalandhar and Bijnor for conspiring to carry out terror activities. "The police is interrogating six other persons. Legal action will be taken on the basis of evidence," he added.

As per the information received by the cops, some hyperactive members of a terror group were trying to recruit new members.

The accused Muhammad Fauzan and Muhammad Tanveer, were on their way to the mosque for morning prayers when they were nabbed by the ATS. Barhapur police station SO Mukesh Kumar confirmed the arrests.

As per the eyewitnesses, the ATS had left their vehicles some distance off and had approached the suspects walking.

The operation was conducted with the help of the Special Cell of Delhi Police, Crime Investigation Cell of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra ATS, Punjab Police and Bihar Police.
