Is Calling Mumbai Police ‘Mafia’ & Mumbai As ‘PoK’ Not Defamation? Sanjay Raut On Court’s Decision In Favour Of Kangana

The court was critical of Kangana for her objectionable responses on social media, dismissing her statements comparing Mumbai with Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and against the state government, police and film industry.

New Delhi: Reacting to the Bombay High Court’s judgment which set aside BMC notices to Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut issued on 7th and 9th September, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut questioned that is it not defamation or contempt when indecent remarks are made about Maharashtra or Mumbai? Do parties which are excited over Court order agree with this? Indecent remarks about judges or Courts lead to contempt, is it not defamation when someone makes such remarks about Maharashtra/Mumbai?," by news agency ANI. Earlier, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar also referred to the actress as ‘do takke ke log.’ “Everyone is surprised that an actress who lives in Himachal, comes here & calls our Mumbai PoK... such 'do takke ke log' want to make Courts arena for political rivalry, it's wrong,” said Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar. Today, the Bombay HC sets aside BMC notices to Kangana Ranaut issued on 7th & 9th Sept, calls demolition at her place as action with malafide intent. HC has also orders that a valuer will be appointed to ascertain damages caused due to demolition. Simultaneously, the court was critical of Kangana for her objectionable responses on social media, dismissing her statements comparing Mumbai with Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and against the state government, police and film industry. While reserving its order on the quantum of compensation payable to the actress, the court directed that if she makes an application for getting her building plans approved, it would be decided within four weeks.
