IRCTC Will Obtain 'Sattvik Certificate' For Trains To Religious Destinations, Says Sattvik Council of India

However, IRCTC hasn't given an official confirmation on this so far.

New Delhi: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) with Sattvik Council of India will promote "vegetarian trains," especially those who are connected with religious places. The Sattvik Council of India (SCI) will provide the certification to the trains, PTI reported.

However, IRCTC hasn't given an official confirmation on this so far. An official release regarding this has been released by the Sattvik Council of India.

As per the press statement, IRCTC and the Sattvik Council of India have collaborated in order to promote vegan travelling to places with religious significance.

The IRCTC runs the Vande Bharat train from New Delhi to Katra, it will be given the "Sattvik Certificate," the statement said.

The Sattvik certification scheme will be launched along with IRCTC on Monday, November 15, 2021. The council in collaboration with IRCTC will also release a handbook regarding the vegetarian-friendly diet that will be followed in the kitchens. According to the release, IRCTC has sought certification for some of the trains that are en-route to holy destinations in the country.

Apart from Vande Bharat, 18 other trains will be certified by the Sattvik Council of India.

“IRCTC base kitchens, executive lounges, budget hotels, food plazas, travel and tour packages, Rail Neer plants will be ‘sattvik’ certified to ensure “vegetarian-friendly travel," the statement was quoted by PTI in its report.
