Tensions prevailed in West Bengal’s North Dinajpur after a youth was shot dead, claimed BJP, while protesting against the killing of an 11-year-old girl in the district. The Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that the youth, who was a party worker and was protesting against the girl’s death, was killed in a police firing. Section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed in North Dinapur and internet has been suspended till April 30 at many places across the district, as per ABP News sources.

The BJP has been alleging Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress government for the death of Mrityunjay Barman.

“Ever since the alleged rape and murder in Kaliganj happened, police started atrocity on the BJP's vote bank (which comes from the SC community) in the northern part of Bengal on the orders of Mamata Banerjee. Police had gone there last night to arrest people and during this, they also shot a BJP worker. We will protest against this,” said West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar.

One of our members protesting over the alleged rape and murder of a Dalit girl in Uttar Dinajpur's Kaliyaganj was shot dead by police. BJP workers are continuously being arrested after the Ram Navami violence. Till now, more than 150 workers have been arrested, said BJP leader Debasree Choudhury.

“Till now, more than 150 workers have been arrested. We would like to say to CM Mamata Banerjee that due to her failures, the Kaliyaganj incident happened and now she must take responsibility for this incident,” she added.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that outsiders were brought to the state to carry out attacks on the local police station and private property at Kaliaganj in Uttar Dinajpur district.

Banerjee alleged BJP was behind the incidents of vandalism that rocked Kaliaganj on Tuesday following the death of a minor girl last week and directed the state police to explore attaching properties of those found involved in the case of arson and violence.
