As the country celebrates the 9th International Yoga Day, people across the world are marking the day dedicated to Yoga in a variety of ways, such as yoga at public gatherings, inside swimming pools, on hilltops, and even in the desert. However, Mumbai took an extra mile ahead as several passengers were seen performing yoga inside the Mumbai local train on Wednesday, a video of which surfaced online. A group guided passengers through different poses. This year the theme of Yoga Day is 'Yoga For Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' i.e. Yoga for the welfare of all in the form of 'One World-One Family'. It emphasises the spirit of Yoga, which unites and takes everyone along.

In a video shared by the news agency ANI, passengers were seen enthusiastically performing the asanas as demonstrated by the volunteers.

Meanwhile, programs related to yoga were organised across the country which served as a platform to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of the practice and promote its holistic approach to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

PM Modi, who is in the United States on an official visit, will also celebrate the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters with the UN leadership and members of the international community.

In a video message, PM Modi said the International Day of Yoga was special this year as researchers at India's research stations in the Arctic and Antarctica too were participating in the celebrations. The prime minister said the idea of the ‘Ocean Ring of Yoga’ makes Yoga Day even more special as it is based on the mutual relation between the idea of Yoga and the expanse of the ocean.

He emphasised that the participation of crores of people from all over the country and the world in this unique celebration in such a spontaneous manner shows the vastness and fame of Yoga.
