'Inherent Bias': Assam CM Says Rahul Gandhi, Oppn Speak 'Only' For Manipur And Not For Bengal, Rajasthan

Assam CM Himanta Sarma called the opposition's demand seeking discussion on Manipur and 'ignoring' Bengal and Rajasthan an 'inherent bias'.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for the latter's tweet responding to PM Narendra Modi's jibe on the INDIA alliance. Calling opposition demand of discussion as 'inherent bias', Sarma said that the opposition 'INDIA' only speaks over the Manipur issue while BJP's allegiance is towards each and every citizen in 'BHARAT' be it Manipur, Rajasthan, West Bengal or Assam. He said that BHARAR will win and it has to win.

"Mr Gandhi, this inherent bias is precisely the problem of I.N.D.I.A . Speak only against Manipur and punish those who speak for others. In BHARAT, our allegiance is towards each and every citizen- be it Manipur, or Rajasthan or West Bengal or in Assam. BHARAT will win, BHARAT has to win," the tweet read.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi earlier tweeted and said, "Call us whatever you want, Mr. Modi. We are INDIA. We will help heal Manipur and wipe the tears of every woman and child. We will bring back love and peace for all her people. We will rebuild the idea of India in Manipur."

Notably, Prime Minister Modi lashed out at the opposition on Tuesday and said that they are completely directionless. The PM also compared the 'INDIA' alliance with the Britishers' East India Company and terror bodies like PFI. He said that the opposition's job is to protest and asked his party leaders to 'focus' on work. He said that India has to be made a developed country by 2047. He made the remarks at BJP's Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday.

"...As the Britishers came and named themselves East India Company, in the same way, the opposition is presenting itself in the name of India," the Prime Minister said while taking a jibe at the opposition. In a sharp attack, the Prime Minister further said that even terror organisations like 'Indian Mujahideen' and 'Popular Front of India (PFI)' have 'India' in them.

The parliamentary party meeting of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) took place on Tuesday amid the opposition's demand for a discussion and PM Modi's statement on the Manipur issue.
