Kupwara: The Indian army on Thursday said that it foiled an infiltration bid in the Pharkita area in the Keran sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara sector along Line of Control. ALSO READ | India Gets Unimpeded & Uninterrupted 2 Consular Access To Kulbhushan Jadhav For Second Time


As per army officials, a group of 3 to 4 militants attempted to infiltrate in the Gen area of Machikmari in the Keran sector of Kupwara.

“During which contact was established around 4:30 PM, while the operation is underway, one militant is likely to be killed," an official said.

"Further details being ascertained,” he added.

The security forces have been alert and swiftly acting on credible information they receive.

On Monday, two Jaish militants including a commander were killed and a lady injured in a gunfight with security forces in the Srigufara area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district.

Inspector-General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar while confirming the incident said that two militants including a Pakistani were killed in an encounter.

Arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession including 2 AK 47 Rifles and huge quantities of ammunition.

On the same day, Bandipora police along with security forces busted a terror module in Chandargeer and Sadhunara area in the vicinity of town Hajin and arrested four terrorist associates.

Acting on a specific input Bandipora Police, 13 RR, 45BN CRPF arrested a terrorist associate from the Chandergeer area during a search operation. The terrorist associate was identified as Shafat Ahmad Dar and 01 live grenade was recovered from his possession.
