Indian Shepherds Brave Chinese Troops Near LAC, Congress Targets PM Modi With 'DDLJ' Jibe

The Congress has attacked the Modi government after a purported video showed Indian herders confronting the Chinese army near the Line of Actual Control.

A purported video of local herders confronting the Chinese Army who seemed to stop them from grazing their sheep near the Line of Actual Control has surfaced on social media. While the herders were lauded for bravely standing up to China's People's Liberation Army troops, the Congress has launched a sharp attack on PM Modi saying that his government was using the 'DDLJ [Deny, Distract, Lie and Justify] policy' to cover up the border issue.

The Congress said, "This video once again exposes the Modi government's claims that everything is fine on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). These pastures fall in areas claimed by India. Indian authorities have reportedly asked the herders not to return to the area." 

In a sharp attack on the Modi government, the party in its statement said, "For four years, the Modi government covered up India's biggest border failure in six decades with its DDLJ policy — Deny, Distract, Lie and Justify. Tried to do. Chinese troops are preventing Indian patrolling troops from reaching the strategically important Depsang plains, Demchok and other areas of eastern Ladakh. Despite 18 rounds of military talks, China is occupying 2,000 square kilometers and is not allowing us to go there."
 
"This video is the latest example of grassroots Ladakhi sources exposing the false narrative of the Modi government," the Congress added.

The video was shared by Chushul Councillor Konchok Stanzin, hailing the bravery of the local graziers. He wrote in his post on X, "See how our local people are showing their bravery in front of the PLA claiming that the area they are stopping is our nomad's grazing land. PLA stopping our nomads from grazing in our territory. Seems it is never a never-ending process due to different lines of perceptions. But I salute our nomads, who always stand to protect our land and stand as the second guardian force of the nation."

"No doubt that our forces are always with civilians resolving the grazing issues with the PLA, it's all because of their support that our nomads could bravely face the PLA," he added.
