Indian Railways: Covid-19 has completely changed lives of every person and every sector. The pandemic has forced us to change our way of living, eating and travelling as well. In March 2020, train operations were completely stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Indian Railways later resumed their operations in June-July 2020. But the railways resumed their services with many changes. One of the most important new changes was that trains would no longer serve food to passengers. Railways have now decided to restart the e-catering services. Now, passengers will be able to order food online.  


IRCTC tweeted on its official Twitter handle that food delivery facility is being reintroduced for passengers on online ordering. Passengers can order their food by visiting the official website of the IRCTC. This facility will be available to passengers at more than 200 railway stations. If you don't have internet access then you can also call 1323 to order your food.


If you are about to travel on the train and want to order food, follow these steps:



  • Step 1: Visit IRCTC's official website and click on http://ecatering.irctc.co.in and enter your ten digit PNR number.

  • Step 2: Select food items to be booked

  • Step 3: Place the food order.

  • Step 4: During payment, you can also select the Cash On Delivery option.

  • Your food order will reach your respective seat.
