New Delhi: Those passengers who have faced difficulties in terms of food while travelling by train, here’s a piece of good news. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is set to resume its cooked food services in passenger trains of Indian Railways from Monday. The services were suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
The facility of cooked food in the train has been restored as per the guidelines from the Railway board.

"Cooked food has already been restored in 428 trains. Of the total number of trains, cooked food had already been restored in 30 percent by December 2021, 80 percent by January 2022, and the remaining 20 percent shall be restored by February 14, 2022," the official communication by the railways said, according to news agency ANI.
Cooked food on premium trains (Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto) had already been restored in December 2021. Ready to eat meals would also continue," said the notification.
In August last year, IRCTC started a ready-to-eat meal service. Cooked food services were restored in 80 percent of trains in January 2022.
For the first time on March 23, 2020, the catering services were suspended as safety measures due to the Coronavirus pandemic. After witnessing a decline in Covid-19 positivity rate in the country, Ready To Eat meals were started in trains in the month of August 5, 2020.

- Firstly visit IRCTC’s eCatering official website https://www.ecatering.irctc.co.in/
- Then enter 10 -digit PNR number and click on the arrow to proceed further
- Select the food from the list of cafes, outlets, and quick service restaurants available there.
- You can place the order and select the payment mode. Either, you can choose to pay online or cash on delivery.
- Once the order is placed, the food will be delivered to your seat/berth.
