Amid the ongoing celebrations to mark 75th anniversary of Indian Independence, termed as "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav", in the country and abroad, a video has gone viral on social media where students from a college in neighbouring Pakistan can be seen waving the tricolour while also playing "Vande Matram" song during an event.
According to reports, the visuals are from Pakistan's Shahida Islam College in Multan during an event that took place at Nishtar Medical University as a part of the model UN competition.
In the viral video, a male student can be seen waving Indian flag with "Vande Matram" playing in background. This was followed by several female students arriving at the stage with 'diyas' in hand, with several Bollywood songs playing in background.
The video was also shared by a Pakitsani journalist Ghulam Abbas Shah. "In Nishtar Medical University of Multan,the Indian tricolor was hoisted & offered Vande Mataram. this tableau was presented by the students of Shahida Islam College, stopped immediately.This event was a model UN competition,students were allotted a country & they would represent," Shah tweeted along with the video of the performance.

The performance was a part of the model UN competition during which students of the University were assigned different countries that they had to represent on stage.
However, the Indian representation was allegedly stopped following an uproar created by the audience present who were reportedly angered with the presentation.
Meanwhile in India, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is taking the form of a mass movement and people from all walks of life and from every section of the society are participating in the initiative to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged people of the country to put the Tricolour as profile pictures on their social media accounts from August 2.
