New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday said that India will emerge as a leading power and that the global standing of those with India will also grow. Speaking at the inaugural event of the 17 th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas Convection 2023 in Indore, Jaishankar said, “Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) aims to refresh bondings, boost energy and add more phases to it. I believe under PM Modi's leadership India will surely emerge as a leading power. Along with that, the global standing of those with India will also grow.” 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event. Union Minister S Jaishankar and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan were also present during the inauguration.






PM Modi along with Special Guest of Honour, President of Suriname Chandrikapersad Santokhi and Chief Guest, President of Guyana Irfaan Ali aslo launched commemorative stamp at the event. 


New India Is Rising: CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan


Speaking at the event, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan praised PM Modi for his leadership saying  “a new India is truly rising, a prosperous, glorious and powerful India.” 


“Today, the entire nation is standing behind him. He said, 'Swachh Bharat' and the entire nation picked up a broom. Indore picked it up in a manner that it hit a 6 in cleanliness,” he added.


“I feel that 'amrit' is showering on MP during Azadi ka Amrit Kaal. You have arrived in MP but even Indore and MP have left no stone unturned, it has opened the door to its heart and home,” the CM said. 


The theme of this year's PBD Convention is "Diaspora: Reliable partners for India’s progress in Amrit Kaal”. Over 3,500 diaspora members from nearly 70 different countries have registered for the PBD Convention.


Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention is the flagship event of the Government of India. It provides an important platform to engage and connect with overseas Indians and to enable the diaspora to interact with each other.
