India scaled a herculean milestone in its war footing efforts to combat the alarming rise in coronavirus cases as the health ministry on Saturday said that the government has crossed the milestone of conducting 1 million Covid-19 tests per day.


As per a tweet put out by the Ministry of Health, more than 10 lakh people had been tested for Covid-19 across the nation in the last 24 hours.


The Ministry of Health also highlighted that the recovery rate has risen by 100% in the past three weeks.The Ministry of Health further added that the surge in recovery rate was due to early identification through testing.

India recorded the highest-amount of recoveries recorded in a single day on Friday with 62,282 patients recovering from the novel virus amid the nation continuing to witness an alarming surge in the number of Covid-19 cases. The total number of recoveries crossed the 21.5-lakh mark on Friday.

As per the official figures releases by the health ministry on Friday, the Covid-19  tally in the country had risen  to 29,05,824 including 6,92,028 active cases, 21,58,947 cured/discharged/migrated & 54,849 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has wrecked havoc around the world with nearly 23 million people affected by the pandemic and 8 million losing their lives.India is the third most affected nation in the world with more than 29 lakh people infected and killed over 54,000. With the steep rise of one million cases in the last 16 days, India inches closer to a grim milestone of the three-million Covid-19 infections.
