New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday referred to the current situation in Ukraine and said that his government “successfully managed” the situation and evacuated people from the war-torn country.
Addressing a Commemoration Ceremony at Symbiosis University Pune, the PM said, “We successfully managed COVID & now the situation in Ukraine; have evacuated our people safely ... Even big countries are facing difficulty in doing so, but it's India's increasing resilience that 1000s of students have been evacuated.”
“Your generation is fortunate to not have experienced being defensive and dependent, and the credit should be given to the youth, all of you, for the change that has been brought in the country,” he further added.
The Commemoration Ceremony at Symbiosis University was also attended by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, Maharashtra Assembly Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra Minister for Industries and Mining, Subhash Desai.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Pune today where he inaugurated the Pune Metro Rail Project and took a ride afterwards.

The inaugural event for the 12-km stretch of the total 32.2-km long project took place at the Garware Metro Station, from where Modi proceeded to board the train. The total cost of the Pune metro project is over Rs 11,400 crore. The PM had laid the foundation stone for the project on December 24, 2016.
The PM also laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several developmental projects including laying the foundation stone of rejuvenation and pollution abatement of Mula-Mutha river projects.
