New Delhi: India on the second straight day witnessed a significant surge in number of fresh Covid cases. According to the Union Health Ministry, India reported 46,164 new COVID19 cases, 34,159 recoveries and 607 deaths in the last 24 hours.

  • Total vaccinated: 60,38,46,475 (80,40,407) in last 24 hrs


Of 46,164 new COVID19 cases and 607 deaths reported in India in the last 24 hours, Kerala recorded 31,445 COVID positive cases and 215 deaths yesterday.


The death toll climbed to 4,36,365 with 607 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am. India's Active caseload stands at 3,33,725. The Health ministry said that active cases account for 1.03 per cent of total cases


With 34,159 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total recoveries increased to 3,17,88,440. Recovery Rate currently at 97.63 per cent.  Weekly Positivity Rate (2.02 per cent) less than 3 per cent for last 62 days while the daily positivity rate (2.58 per cent) less than 3 per cent for last 31 days. 


As many as 17,87,283 tests were conducted on Wednesday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 51,31,29,378.


In a significant achievement, India's Covid-19 vaccination coverage has crossed the 60-crore landmark on Wednesday. The country's total vaccination count under the mass vaccination drive now stands at 60,24,25,271. An official said that more than 66 lakh vaccines doses were administered since Tuesday.
