New Delhi: India registers 36,571 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,23,58,829. According to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the active cases have declined to 3,63,605, the lowest in 150 days, and comprise 1.12 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020.
According to the data updated at 8 am, death toll climbed to 4,33,589 with 540 fresh fatalities. A reduction of 524 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
The national recovery rate improved to 97.54 per cent, the highest since March 2020. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.94 per cent. It has been less than three per cent for the last 25 days.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,15,61,635, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.34 per cent, the data stated.
The Indian Council of Medical Research reported that a total of 50,26,99,702 samples have been tested for Covid -19 up to 19th August of which, 18,86,271 samples were tested yesterday.
India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 57.16 Crore (57,16,71,264) with more than 48 lakh (48,84,440) Vaccine Doses administered in last 24 hours. 26,66,831 vaccine doses were administered as first dose and 6,01,437 vaccine doses given as second dose in the age group 18-44 years today. Cumulatively, 21,13,11,218 persons in the age group 18-44 years across 37 States/UTs have received their first dose and total 1,79,43,325 have received their second dose since the start of Phase-3 of the vaccination drive.
