India Achieves Major Milestone In Vaccination Drive. Both Doses Administered To 60% Of Population, Says Union Health Minister
Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in a tweet said that 60 percent of the country's population has been given both doses of the vaccine.
New Delhi: Amid the Omicron scare that has gripped the nation once again, the country has intensified its vaccination drive to prevent the spread of the new Coronavirus strain. Efforts are being stepped up to administer both the vaccine doses to as many people as possible. Meanwhile, the country has achieved a major milestone in the administration of the Covid vaccine doses.
Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in a tweet said that 60 percent of the country's population has been given both doses of the Covid vaccine so far. Union Health Minister Mandaviya tweeted, "A milestone has been achieved. Congratulations to all the people of India for this. With the help, participation, and dedicated efforts of our health workers, more than 60 percent of India's population has been completely vaccinated.'

This vaccine is being used in India
It may be noted that people are currently being vaccinated in India using Covaxin, Covishield, and Sputnik V. Covishield was developed by Oxford/Astrazeneca company while it is produced by SII. Covaxin is an indigenous vaccine made in India while the Sputnik V Vaccine is a Russian vaccine. Sputnik V Co. is marketed by Dr. Reddy's Laboratories in India.
