Delhi's Raisina Hills glowed with vibrant and dynamic lighting as part of the elaborate preparations for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. Illuminating the skyline, Rashtrapati Bhawan, North Block, and South Block were adorned with a kaleidoscope of colourful lights, creating a visually striking spectacle ahead of the national holiday, news agency ANI reported posting videos of the same on X on Sunday evening. Concurrently, extensive preparations are in progress at the Red Fort premises, where the Independence Day festivities are set to take place. Amidst the festive atmosphere, security measures have been intensified around the Red Fort area to ensure a safe and memorable celebration.

Special Guests And Selfie Points To Enhance Celebrations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off the festivities by raising the national flag and addressing the nation from the historic Red Fort. The presence of approximately 1,800 "special guests" who embody the government's vision of fostering public participation in governance as "Jan Bhagidars," according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence, will mark this year's Independence Day festivities. A number of specially designed selfie points dedicated to various government initiatives have also been strategically placed throughout the city.
Independence Day Celebration Schedule
As per the statement, the Prime Minister's arrival at the Red Fort will be met with a ceremonial welcome by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other dignitaries. The Defence Secretary will introduce Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, the General Officer Commanding (GoC), Delhi Area, to PM Modi.
Escorted by the GoC Delhi Area, the Prime Minister will proceed to the Saluting Base, where a combined Inter-Services and Delhi Police Guard will present a salute. Subsequently, he will inspect the Guard of Honour, according to the statement.
Following the inspection, Prime Minister Modi will ascend to the ramparts of the Red Fort to unfurl the National Flag. This act will be synchronized with a 21 Gun Salute by valiant gunners, it added.
Addressing the nation will be the focal point of the event. Upon concluding his speech, the cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) will reverberate the strains of the National Anthem, it said.
Diverse Array of Special Invitees
The guest list for this year's Independence Day celebration reflects a diverse cross-section of Indian society. Among the special invitees are 400 Sarpanches from vibrant villages, 250 representatives from the Farmer Producer Organisations scheme, 50 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, as well as Shram Yogis (construction workers) contributing to the Central Vista Project, the statement said.
The event will also honor 50 Khadi workers, individuals involved in the construction of border roads, and contributors to initiatives like Amrit Sarovar and Har Ghar Jal Yojana. Notably, 50 primary school teachers, nurses, fishermen, and several others will join this diverse gathering, it added.
