New Delhi: The Income Tax Department has sent a notice to two prominent priests along with nine other people of the famous Trimbakeshwar Temple in Nashik.

In an ongoing crackdown against black money, the notice has been sent to the priests for the possession of unaccounted cash.

A probe has already been started against the two priests.

According to sources, a huge amount of money has been recovered from the priests that was allegedly given to them as charity in lieu of the 'poojas' that they performed.

The names of the prominent priests has not been disclosed yet.

More details are awaited.

Raids are being conducted by the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Directorate all over the country ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a sudden address to the nation, in an attempt to fight the menace of black money, announced the demonetization of old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes.
