New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh these days is in the news for two main reasons-Assembly elections and family feud within Samajwadi Party (SP).
However, the ongoing feud within SP is not affecting the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav who is busy planning for the campaign strategy for the upcoming polls.
According to the reports, an alliance between the junior Yadav-led faction of the SP and the Congress is on the cards.
However, the more interesting thing is that the tie-up could witness enhanced participation of Akhilesh's wife and Kannauj MP Dimple Yadav and Congress's star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi.
Dimple, Priyanka not new to electoral politics
Interestingly, both women are not new to electoral politics. Dimple Yadav is a lawmaker from Kannauj district and Priyanka Gandhi has been the campaign in charge for her mother and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and brother Rahul Gandhi.
According to reports, Akhilesh and Rahul will very soon announce an alliance and both women will likely to be present at the event.
Why Dimple and Priyanka called in?
The decision to bring in Dimple and Priyanka for election campaigning has larger political calculations behind it.
In Priyanka, people see an image of late Indira Gandhi. Priyanka is known for her acute political sense and ability to connect with voters. The Congress party workers have been for years now urging for a larger role for her in politics. However, she has chosen to limit her participation family bastions Raibareli and Amethi.
On the other hand, Dimple Yadav, is less politically aggressive. But fits the portrait of an ideal wife in the politics of UP. She recently joined her husband Akhilesh during Vikas Rath Yatra.
In 2014 elections, also she had visited her constituency to campaign for a few other seats.
