The Muslim woman had earlier lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath's efforts to bring change for the sufferers of the practice.
The woman said it was better to convert and adopt Hinduism than to face injustice due to `triple talaq` system.
She was upset as her sister was given divorce from her brother-in-law by just uttering the word `talaq` thrice. The man on April 16th married another woman.
A written complaint was filed in this regard.

“Lives of our women are destroyed because of triple talaq. Such men who divorce in this manner should be hanged or given life imprisonment. If triple talaq continues, we will have to convert our religion and get married to Hindu men. We will have to do so as when we get old; our husbands will abandon us leaving us nowhere to go. Modi is doing well for welfare of women,” she had said.
However, on Friday the woman apologized for making such comments and said she was a Muslim and was ashamed to have made such statements.
“I apologise for the comments I made to people of my community. I am a Muslim and I am ashamed of myself. I was tensed and angry because of which I uttered those words,” she said.
“I was pressurised to make those comments,” she replied to a question.
