New Delhi: National Commission for Women (NCW) chief Rekha Sharma on Saturday said that she suspects there is a flesh trade racket operational in Sawai Madhopor, Rajasthan and that the administration should get a survey and DNA test done to check if the girls are being trafficked, news agency ANI reported.
“I felt there is a big racket here, young girls being pushed into flesh trade. Admin has to see if these girls were brought here, girls are also being sent out. Every house here has 5-6 young girls. I feel they are not their own,” ANI quoted Sharma as saying.
“I feel they've been brought from somewhere. Admin should get survey and DNA test done. This is a racket to sell off young girls. When I came here in the evening, minor girls were signalling and calling people to them. So, I came with police here today to check the houses,” she added.
This comes in the wake of reports of alleged child trafficking in Bhilwara after the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a notice on the reported auctioning of girls on stamp papers and refusal resulting in the rape of their mothers to settle disputes.
Notably, the NHRC has taken suo motu cognisance of a media report that claimed girls are sold on stamp paper in a half dozen districts of Rajasthan for settlement of disputes and if they don't agree, their mothers are subjected to rape on the diktats of cast panchayats.
National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairperson Priyank Kanoongo on Friday claimed that government officials and politicians are involved in the alleged child trafficking.
Meanwhile, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking stronger laws and policies restraining remission and parole of rape convicts.
Talking about the release of the rapists of Bilkis Bano and the parole given to rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim, she demanded that they be sent back to jail.
