Army personnel in Karalpura of Kashmir's Kupwara received a distress call from Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh in Pharkian village who sought urgent help as he was unable to reach the community health service vehicle or local transport.

His wife had just gone into labour and the knee-deep snow was posing a major challenge.

Responding to the urgency, army personnel arrived on spot with medical staff. They then went on to escort the woman and her family for 2 km.

Having reached a clearer spot, the woman was rushed to the Karalpura hospital where the staff was alerted about the situation in advance.

The patient was attended to as necessary and soon the couple became parents to a baby boy.

Ministry of Defense department posted a video of this incident on Twitter where the army men can be seen carrying the woman while walking in a thick layer of snow with great difficulty.

The visuals depict how besides living in difficult conditions and dealing with notorious elements, our army men also come to the rescue of regular civilians braving all odds. In this case, they saved the life of a pregnant woman and her newborn.

This act of the jawans will surely leave everyone filled with immense pride and gratitude.
