Union Home Minister Amit Shah will on Thursday lead the Bharatiya Janata Party's Gaurav Yatra from Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat after addressing party members at a public meeting in Chhattisgarh's Durg. The events are being held as part of the BJP's nationwide campaign to highlight the achievements of the Narendra Modi government in the last nine years. The visits are also expected to sound BJP's poll campaign bugle ahead of the state elections slated to happen in both Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh later this year. 


As per the BJP's program for Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit, the former party president will reach Jayanti Stadium Helipad in Bhilai today. From there, he will reach the residence of Padma Shri awardee Pandwani singer Usha Barle by road to meet her. The Home Minister will stay there for 20 minutes. After this, he will reach Pandit Ravi Shankar Stadium in Durg by road at 1:30 pm where he is slated to address a public meeting.

The Home Minister will then take part in a 1.5 km roadshow in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat. The roadshow will be held from Jaistambh Chowk in Balaghat to Dr. Ambedkar Chowk and CM Rise School where he will address another public meeting at 4 pm. After this, he will witness a stage programme along with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP State President VD Sharma, and BJP National Secretary Pankaja Munde.






Amit Shah will also pay obeisance at a Hanuman temple at 5:15 PM.


According to news agency PTI, Durg's Superintendent of Police Shalabh Kumar Sinha informed that security arrangements for the minister's visit have been completed, and 651 jawans have been deployed as part of it.


Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh will be held by the end of this year and the Congress as well as the  BJP have started making preparations for the polls. 


The visits are a part of BJP's nationwide “Sampark Se Samarthan” campaign that was launched last month under which its leaders, including ministers and parliamentarians, are reaching out to the masses including distinguished people seeking their support with an eye on the upcoming polls, including the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
