New Delhi:  Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, and Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann, will hold a Tiranga Yatra at Dhalpur in Kullu today to woo the voters in the poll-bound state of Himachal Pradesh. The Tiranga Yatra will start at 12 pm, according to the tweet by AAP Himachal Pradesh. Both leaders last visited the state on June 11 and held an election rally in Hamirpur district. The crucial Assembly elections are scheduled to be held later this year.

The visit comes on the back of AAP clinching its first victory in Municipal Corporation elections in Haryana. The stakes were high for AAP that has been scaling up its political ambitions ahead of the 2024 general elections. AAP leaders are now eyeing the Himachal Pradesh state elections where the BJP is in power.

During the Hamirpur visit, both leaders interacted with teachers and parents to discuss the state of education at an event called ‘Shiksha Samvad’. AAP is trying to make education an election issue which is why the party leaders are also seen making elaborate comments on the state’s education system.

Criticising the condition of government schools in the state, AAP Himachal Pradesh in a tweet on friday tagged chief minister Jai Ram Thakur urging people to give Arvind Kejriwal a chance.

Earlier Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also visited Shimla on June 7 where he raised questions about Himachal Pradesh’s education system.

He also compared Delhi and Himachal’s education systems and alleged that the current state government does not allocatae adequate funds to the education department but spends lavishly on sons wedding.

“Himachal has many industries like in Baddi, yet it doesn’t have money for education. Where’s the money going? How come a minister affords to host 10 receptions in five-star facilities from Delhi to Shimla for his son’s wedding. It’s this money that should have gone into education,” Sisodia made the allegation during his visit to Shimla.
