New Delhi: All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has been speaking in support of the girls wearing Hijab since the incident from Karnataka came to light.
Speaking on the same note, Owaisi gave a statement saying that if he can criticise the Prime Minister in the Parliament wearing a skull cap and a beard then why can't girls be allowed to wear Hijab to their educational institutions.
“Kerala High Court had noted that Burqa and Hijab are essential in Islam. If I can criticise the Prime Minister inside the Parliament donning a skull cap and beard then why don't they allow this girl to wear Hijab, let her study,” Owaisi said in a Moradabad public meeting as reported by Times of India.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has turned down an urgent listing of pleas seeking transfer of petitions filed in regard to the Hijab issue from Karnataka High Court to the apex court.
It said that since the Karnataka High will bring up the matter on Thursday, then why should the apex court interfere at this point of time and refused to give any specific date, reports news agency ANI.
It was decided that a three-judge bench would hear petitions regarding a ban on wearing Hijabs by students in colleges. The three judge bench headed by Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi comprised two more members, Justice Krishan S Dixit and Justice Jaibunnisa M Khazi.
On Wednesday, a single bench of Karnataka High Court with Justice Dixit referred the petitions challenging the ban on hijabs in pre-university colleges to a three-judge bench which included himself.
