New Delhi: The Karnataka hijab controversy arose on Saturday, with the BJP launching an assault on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the matter.
Rahul Gandhi stated on Saturday that by allowing hijab to obstruct kids' education, the future of India's females is being jeopardised.
The BJP criticised Rahul Gandhi on Twitter for communalizing education, asking, if the hijab is "very much needed" for getting an education, why doesn't Rahul Gandhi make it mandatory in Congress-ruled states.
In response to Rahul Gandhi's remark over Hijab, the Karnataka BJP on its official Twitter handle writes, " By communalising education, CONgress co-owner Rahul Gandhi has once again proved that he is dangerous to the future of India. If Hijab is very much essential to get educated, why doesn't Rahul Gandhi make it mandatory in States ruled by CONgress?"
On February 2, Kundapur's Pre-university institution prohibited entry to women unless they removed their headscarves.
As per NDTV's report, some 40 Muslim female students protested outside Bhandarkar's Arts and Science Degree College in Kundapur. The students who were barred from entering their courses were protesting the prohibition on wearing hijab at colleges.
The uproar began in early January of this year. Six girls at the Government Girls PU College in Udupi district said they were prohibited from attending courses because they insisted on wearing a headscarf.
