Jharkhand CM-designate Hemant Soren on Thursday met Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan and invited him for his oathtaking ceremony. Hemant Soren will take oath as the CM of Jharkhand for the third time on Thursday evening. He was elected by his party leaders and allies at a meeting on Wednesday to take back the CM's post after walking out on bail in a land scam case last week.

He will take oath at the Raj Bhavan at 5 PM.

His close aide Champai Soren, who sat on the chair after Hemant Soren's arrest on January 31 this year, stepped down after the meeting. According to various media reports, he resigned quite unwillingly.

Hemant Soren will assume office right before the assembly polls in November-December. He, however, believes the polls will be held earlier to favour the BJP.

Hemant Soren walked out on bail on June 28. Soon after his release, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's partners in the INDIA and Jharkhand Mahagathbandhan alliances congratulated him and slammed the Centre, accusing it of conducting a witchhunt against him.

BJP Mocks Hemant Soren For 'Use & Throw' Policy

The BJP, meanwhile, mocked Hemant Soren, saying the JMM chairman couldn't wait even two months till the elections. "It was just a matter of 2 months Hemant ji... History will remember the way senior JMM leader and Guruji's associate Champai Soren was subjected to use & throw for power. They know that they will be wiped out in two-three months and that is why a family of Soren clan is ready to go to any extent to gain power," Leader of Opposition in Jharkhand Assembly Amar Kumar Bauri posted on X.

The BJP also accused Hemant Soren of using JMM to promote familialism. "JMM has turned Kolhan's Tiger into a mouse. The real face of JMM, which talks of choosing a chief minister by rising above the family, has been exposed," BJP Jharkhand unit president Babulal Marandi.
