New Delhi: Heatwave-like conditions are likely to occur in isolated pockets of the country, according to the India Meteorological Department. Parts that are likely to see a rise in temperatures, according to the latest weather bulletin, are isolated pockets over Rajasthan from May 8 to May 12 and over North Madhya Maharashtra on May 8 and 9. The IMD also said that Vidarbha and west Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience heatwave conditions from May 9 to 12. Furthermore, south Haryana, Delhi, and south Punjab are also to see similar weather conditions from May 10 to May 12.
According to the Met department, Maximum Temperatures (as of 07/05/2022) were 42-44 degrees Celsius over many parts of Vidarbha, West Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana; in isolated pockets of north Madhya Maharashtra and 40-42 degrees Celsius over most parts of East Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat State, Rayalaseema; in some parts of south Haryana, Marathawada, south Madhya Maharashtra & and in isolated pockets of southeast Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, northern Tamil Nadu and interior parts of Odisha.
Cyclonic Storm ‘Asani’
Meanwhile, the IMD informed that the cyclonic storm ‘Asani’ over the southeast Bay of Bengal has moved northwestwards and lay centred at 11:30 am today.
The weather department also advised fishermen not to venture into Eastcentral & Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining Andaman Sea on May 8. Fishermen are advised not to venture into central parts of the Bay of Bengal on May 9 and 10 and over Northwest Bay of Bengal from May 10 to May 12.
