Kanpur: The Covid vaccination drive is in full swing, currently people over the age of 45 are being vaccinated and since this is a new vaccine utmost care is expected from people who are administering it. In a shocking report from a village in Kanpur a woman was vaccinated twice by a negligent healthcare worker who was busy talking over the phone while vaccinating the woman.


On Thursday, Kamlesh Kumari from the Mandauli village came to the Primary Health Care center to get vaccinated; the Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM), Archana present gave the woman one dose completed the paper work and gave her another dose to the same woman all the while she being busy on her phone. Kamlesh Kumari's arm started aching and there was a swelling at the area where she received the vaccine. When Kumari enquired about why she was given two shots Archana reprimanded Kumari.

This created an uproar at the centre and the in-charge informed higher officials about the case. This blunder could have had heavy consequences on the woman's life. The relatives of the woman have filed a formal complaint with the Chief Medical Officer and an investigation is underway according to media reports. 


India reports 89,129 new COVID 19 cases, 44,202 discharges, and 714 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry. There has been a sharp growth in the daily reported cases and the average daily deaths across the country since June last year. Today's surge is the highest since September 20 when 92,605 cases were reported. So far, 7,30,54,295 people have been vaccinated.
