Earlier in the day, a scuffle broke out between Congress workers and Uttar Pradesh police at Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) flyway as Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and several other senior leaders continued their attempt to reach Hathras despite huge police deployment.
A batch of five leaders were allowed by the cops to leave for Hathras, which included Rahul, Priyanka, KC Venugopal and Adhir Ranjan, while senior leaders including Randeep Surjewala & others were not permitted to leave.
Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi took off for Hathras on Saturday afternoon in their second attempt to meet the family of the 19-year-old victim of the alleged gangrape and murder in Hathras. In a cavalcade like march towards the victim’s residence, over 35 senior leaders of Congress including several MPs have joined them, leading to a huge jam at Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) flyway.
A large number of Congress workers have gathered on the way, while a huge force remains deployed at the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border in Noida, to prevent their movement.

Police also lathicharged several Congress workers who were trying to get past the barricades.
"They are violating the Section 144 of CrPC. We are deployed here to control the unlawful assembling of people. We are appealing for peace amid COVID19 outbreak, in larger public interest they should disperse," Noida ADCP Ranvijay Singh had said.
“If not this time, then we will try again,” Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who was earlier seen steering Rahul Gandhi’s vehicle in Uttar Pradesh, told mediapersons on her way to meet the family of the alleged gangrape victim in Hathras (UP), with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Barricades were installed at the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) flyway, where scores of policemen, including senior officers, were present in anti-riot gears since noon, even as CrPC section 144 remained imposed in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar.
"The border is not sealed but checks have been intensified at the Delhi-Noida border," according to a local police official.
Scores of Congress and the party's youth wing workers reached the DND flyway around 2 pm, even as some party workers were allegedly detained by the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police.
