Writing on Twitter in Hindi, the Congress General Secretary in Uttar Pradesh, listed 5 points that the family wants the state government to address.

Her Hindi tweets translate to:

Questions from Hathras victim's family:

  1. Judicial investigation of the whole case should be done through the Supreme Court.

  2. Suspend Hathras DM and do not appoint him on any major post thereafter.

  3. Why was the body of our daughter burnt with petrol without asking us?

  4. Why are we being misled and threatened repeatedly?

  5. On grounds of humanity, we brought flowers from the funeral pyre, but how do we believe if the dead body belongs to our daughter?

"It is the right of this family to get answers to these questions and the UP government will have to give these answers," Priyanka wrote at the end.

Their discussion with the family went on for around 40 minutes in the small room of their house on Saturday.

Speaking to the media earlier in the day, after journalists were finally allowed to meet the grieving members, the family also stated that they don't if the body cremated was of their 19-year-old daughter or someone else as they were not even shown her face.

The family has leveled serious allegations against DM Praveen Kumar Laxkar. He has been accused over the hurried cremation that allegedly happened without the family's consent. The family police did not let them speak to the media, confiscated their mobile phones, and tapped their calls.

They have also alleged that the DM told them they would not have received Rs 25 lakh compensation if their daughter had died of Covid-19 and wanted them to shut up since they are getting the amount.

The Uttar Pradesh government has recommended a CBI probe into the matter, which again the family is reported to be saying they did not ask for as they wanted the case to go to Supreme Court.
