New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a former employee of Tata Steel Processing and Distribution allegedly shot a senior manager of the company on Friday afternoon in Haryana’s Faridabad area. The police stated that the accused shot 4-5 bullets from close range into the victim Arindam Pal (40), a senior manager of supply-chain in the company. Speaking to news agency ANI, Mujesar SHO said, “Bullets were shot at senior manager by a former employee… he died on the way to the hospital… in initial reports, doctors say he was shot with 5 bullets… post-mortem reports awaited.” After shooting his senior, accused Vishwas Pandey (32), who hails from Allahabad, fled from the spot and search operation is being conducted by the Haryana police to nab him.


Explaining the crime scene, Police informed media that the accused came to company’s warehouse office located at Bata Chowk, about 10 kilometres from the city's border with New Delhi, claiming he wanted to settle his final dues. “Accused Vishwash Pandey directly entered the cabin of Arindam Pal and shot him five times,” police added.

Even Tata Steel released an official statement saying that the incident took place at around 1.10 pm in the day. “At around 1:10 pm today, i.e. Nov 9, 2018, an unfortunate incident took place at the Faridabad office of Tata Steel Processing and Distribution Ltd (TSPDL), a Tata Steel subsidiary located inside the Tata Steel stockyard in Faridabad, wherein Mr Arindam Pal, Sr Manager (Supply Chain), was shot dead with a firearm by Mr Vishwash Pandey, an ex-employee of the company,” the company said in a statement.

The statement further informed that Pal expired on the way to the hospital. He is survived by his wife, parents and a daughter. The company informed that the accused worked with TSPDL from 2015 till 2018. He was discharged from the services of the company in August 2018 reportedly on grounds of indiscipline. “After shooting Pal, he immediately ran out of the office and is still at large,” the statement added further.

An FIR has been filed and police are investigating into the incident. The company has expressed condolence to Pal’s family and has also assured all possible help at this time of crisis.
