The violence that erupted in Nuh in Haryana's Mewat region during a procession led by the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad has spread to neighbouring Gurugram, with Delhi Police strengthening security at sensitive places amid concerns of a spill over in the national capital.

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said the situation was under control even as the death toll in the communal violence rose to six on Wednesday.

Apart from Gurugram, violence was also reported from Haryana's Palwal district, where a mob set over 25 huts in Parshuram Colony on fire. Border areas in Rajasthan have also been put on alert after "two or three" shops in Bhiwadi town were vandalised, police said.
